-------- Alternative Cloud Research is a response to the experience of virtual travel. The project consists of an automated* web archive that continuously searches, stores and displays clouds found on Google Street View. As images accumulate I am able to animate them in a series of loops. Shown here is a video of 500 frames running at 15 frames per second. *alternativecloudresearch.com uses a public GPS dataset to generate images from Google Street View. The archive is an opensource dataset which consists of tagged street locations collected by the U.S. Census Bureau, Geography Division. visit alternativecloudresearch.com -------- Alternative Cloud Research / 500 frames from Vadim Gershman on Vimeo. -------- For the opening of the show at the XYandZ Gallery I created a series of printed works on canvas which consist of clouds from the archive coupled with a curated set of inspirational aphorisms screen printed over the image.The text was also mined on Google.
